DVSI official member of the German Design Day
The German Design Day, which emerged in 2016 from the merger of the German Designers' Day Association (Deutscher Designertag e.V.) and the Initiative of German Design Associations (iDD e.V.), represents approximately 360,000 designers and 60,000 design companies in Germany. It also consolidates, among other things, the experience of collaborating with industry under one umbrella and represents the interests of the entire sector to policymakers. The German Design Day is one of nine sections within the German Cultural Council (Deutscher Kulturrat), the umbrella organization of federal cultural associations. Through its membership in the German Design Day, the German Toy Industry Association (DVSI) will also play an active role in the Cultural Council. DVSI Managing Director Ulrich Brobeil is involved in the Education Council of the German Design Day and the Education Committee of the German Cultural Council. The DVSI expressly welcomes its inclusion in the creative association, which understands play as a fundamental cultural practice and thus aligns with the DVSI's position. "Toys are cultural assets," says DVSI Managing Director Ulrich Brobeil, "that reflect societal norms and values." However, their production is no child's play. The demands placed on its design go beyond those of classic product design for adults, because it must consider the specific needs of children while also addressing socio-cultural requirements such as resource conservation, eco-efficiency, and biodegradability. The DVSI is pleased that the German Design Day shares this view and has welcomed the DVSI as a new corporate member into the circle of professional associations and institutions of design in Germany.
